“It is not in the pursuit of happiness that we find fulfillment, it is in the happiness of pursuit.” — Denis Waitley

“Find what really fulfills you and go do it”

“Your 40s are good. Your 50s are great. Your 60s are fab. And 70 is f*@king awesome!” — Helen Mirren

I met Roger in Texas on my way to the airport. He shared this amazing story with me that not only inspired but further intensified my strong belief in attirement. I created this word after meeting him. Roger at the time was 79 years young.

Roger worked as a professional sales manager during his career. He currently drives for a car service in Houston, Texas and puts in 50–60 hours per week. He loves it as it provides purpose for him to get up each morning and make it happen.

His wife worked as a schoolteacher in her career and is now a sought-out substitute teacher in the school district. She is 76 years young and is the first call for substitute teaching in the district, the reason being that she has incredible discipline skills.

This is her substitute teaching strategy that she employs as she always requests the toughest class in the school as her assignment for the day.

This amazing woman and teacher always requests the names of the two toughest kids in the class. She calls these students by name and asks them to come to the front of the class and help her with a warm up technique.

These are the toughest kids in the school and no one ever calls on them to participate therefore they are puzzled at first.

When she completes the day, these same students always tell the principal that she is their favorite teacher and wish that she was their regular teacher.

This woman is 76 years young and still driving her purpose and mission in life. In turn, she shares this purpose and passion with these young people.

Purpose and passion can never be disguised, as it is extremely transparent.

So, find what really fulfills you and go do it.

Don’t wait until the cows come home.

Do it before they do and don’t do what the following do on a daily basis.

Here is an example of a typical 40 hour work week that really doesn’t exist any longer due to remote work however there are still some companies that operate with the usual work environment.

“The first 40 hours of work per week are for survival. Everything after that is for success.” — Thomas A. Edison

There are a lot of beautiful people that just love putting in time, watching the clock, posting on social media, listening to everyone except their inner wisdom and thinking of everything else than what they should be focused on.

I recall the following at a seminar years ago before the Covid era.

This is their usual daily schedule at 4:30 p.m. and it goes something like this.

At 4:30 p.m., they begin to wind down the day by cruising the office with high five’s and exchanging comradery .

At 4:40 p.m., they make a dash for the bathroom before they exit for the day.

At 4:50 p.m., they slip on their running shoes and tie up their laces like professional athletes ready to compete in the 50-yard dash.

At 4:59 p.m., they position themselves with legs spread ready to dart out of the building.

At 5:00 p.m. they are already in their vehicle that was parked ready to exit without backing into the parking lot.

At 5:05 p.m., the parking lot is empty and they’re out of there until they do it all over again the next day.

Forty hours of unfulfillment?

Seriously?

Life is far too short and you’re far too intelligent so go and find what really fulfills you.

You clearly know it’s time.
