“Successful people maintain a positive focus in life no matter what is going on around them. They stay focused on their past successes rather than their past failures, and on the next action steps they need to take to get them closer to the fulfillment of their goals rather than all the other distractions that life presents to them.” — Jack Canfield

“Never neglect details. When everyone’s mind is dulled or distracted the leader must be doubly vigilant.” — Colin Powell

THE BEST IS YET TO COME FOR YOU PUBLICATION

The distraction syndrome is rampant today as distractions are plentiful and aren’t going away any time soon.

Walk into any private or public space and one will readily see a multitude of various ages on a device be it a cell phone, lap top, iPad etc.

At times, I wonder what it would be like to walk around the mall with that first dinosaur of a cell phone invented by Martin Cooper in 1973.

Regardless, that first cell phone fifty years ago has certainly evolved to what it is today.

It is an amazing tool however continued and prolonged use has created the distraction syndrome as we know it today.

I am not referring to the various medical references of distraction such as ADHD.

I am specifically referring to everyday people that are impaired as a result of this syndrome.

In fact, some communities have realized that the rampant distraction creates traffic anomalies.

So, what’s the solution?

FOCUS!

My definition of this word is the following.

Fierce optimal concentration unusually sustained.

All the power of the latter is internal and not external. Externalizing our personal power towards inanimate devices does not serve us proactively.

As Dr. Thurman Fleet stated, “Treat the cause and not the symptoms.”

A few years ago, a gentleman went to his doctor and asked him what was the cause of his ailment. The doctor responded, “We don’t know the cause, we just treat the symptoms.”

How can we possibly get better results if we don’t treat the cause so it doesn’t come back to haunt us again?

We want to begin to think by design. We are the designers of our lives by our thoughts, feelings and actions.

We have the ability to choose.

Focusing in a prolonged manner on any device limits our ability to think independently as the algorithms are intended to sway our own personal thoughts towards any issue, product or opinion.

It appears as though these devices have an alluring, magnetic pull in order to suck us into its vortex.

We were all created with free will.

Maybe it’s time that we all used it towards our benefit.

Carpe Momentum.

All the best as the best is yet to come for you.

Yours in success,

Franco Cianflone
